UC Blinds is a family-run business that has been manufacturing, supplying, and installing high-quality made-to-measure window blinds since 1996. Most of our blinds are made in our own factory and showroom in Hall Green, Birmingham, allowing us to maintain high standards of quality, craftsmanship, and customer service.

We offer a free home and commercial survey and fitting service across Birmingham, Solihull, and the West Midlands, covering locations within approximately 20 miles of our Hall Green showroom. Our experienced team will measure your windows, provide expert advice, and ensure your blinds are fitted professionally.

You can also order blinds securely online through our website. All transactions are protected with SSL encryption, and payments can be made safely using major credit and debit cards or PayPal. UC Blinds was founded in 1996 by Ben, who began his career cleaning window blinds before expanding into the supply, installation and manufacture of bespoke blinds. Over the years, the company has grown into one of the region’s trusted specialists in made-to-measure window coverings.

In 2009, Ben’s wife joined the business, helping to expand UC Blinds into the online market and supporting continued growth while maintaining the personal service that has always been at the heart of the company.

Today, Ben continues to carry out many of the home and commercial surveys himself, ensuring customers benefit directly from more than 30 years of hands-on experience in the blinds and window shading industry. 

Selecting the right blinds can transform any room instantly and create a whole new look.  When deciding what type of blind to choose, it’s worth considering what functionality you would like it to perform.  You’ll need to consider the following:

 •  The room, do you need blackout for a bedroom or PVC waterproof for the bathroom?

 •  Your colour scheme.

 •  The size of your window.

 • How much control over light and privacy you want to have in the room.

Instead of buying blinds off the shelf ready-made, made to measure blinds are bespoke to you.  When you buy ready-made blinds, you’re likely to have to compromise on some aspect of the design.  Windows are not all one size, and so you might find you can only buy something which is way too long, or not wide enough for your particular window frame.  

What to look out for

For example in Venetian blinds this can lead to a gathering of slats at the bottom which will obscure your view.  In roller or vertical blinds, you can have huge gaps at the sides or just not quite long enough to reach the window sill.  You may have a window that is an unusual size, made to measure blinds fit perfect every time.

By buying blinds made just for you, you won’t have to make any adjustments, they are made and fitted to your exact window size.  Everything will look just right and you’ll be able to pick specific colours, styles or patterns.  Rather than just having to go with what is available on the shelf. 

Inside Recess

If you want blinds that fit close to the window (a recess blind), you’ll need to measure the window itself.  On roller blinds the fabric will be 35mm (3.5cm) narrower than the overall width of the exact blind size, which will allow some light through.  This is because the overall width of the blind includes the end sets and brackets.  

Outside Recess

If you want blinds that fit outside the recess.  This will give the impression of a larger window when closed.  You will need to measure for the size you’d like, and therefore slightly bigger than the window itself.  To minimise light leakage we recommend the blind overlaps by at least 50mm (5cm) each side

In order to decide what would work best, look at the window.  If the recess is fairly shallow, and the window has large handles, you may be unable to operate the blind properly if it is placed too close.  For this type of window, it may be better to choose exact size instead.

Faux Wood Venetian blinds are made from PVC making them cheaper than real wooden Venetian blinds and practical too.  They are moisture resistant, wipe clean, mould proof and blackout.  Thus making them perfect for bathrooms and kitchens.

All of our window blinds are made to order and to your exact specification.  Therefore we cannot accept changes, cancellations or liability for incorrect measurements given once the order is in production.  We will however endeavour to do our best to help you rectify any problems.  Our advice would be that you contact us as immediately so we can see if you can help you.  Please check all measurements before placing your order.  Make sure you check you have selected the correct unit of measurement from the drop down menu.

Blackout blind fabrics are perfect for bedrooms, especially children’s bedrooms.  We have a great range of children’s bedroom blinds in fun colours and designs.  Checkout our stunning range of Children’s digitally printed photo roller blinds, which are created by using high resolution images.

Some of our blinds are child safe by design, so don’t need a device.  All of our blinds with cords or chains come with child-safety devices as standard to keep them out of reach and under tension from children.  Blinds with looped cords feature breakaway devices that snap under pressure, but are easily fixed connected back together.  If you would like to buy additional safety devices for your existing blinds please go to our accessories page. 

PVC Waterproof blinds are perfect for bathrooms.  In fact, they are moisture resistant, wipe clean, mould proof and blackout.  We also sell Faux Wood Venetian which being PVC makes them ideal for bathrooms and kitchens. 

While you’re browsing our fabrics, just click on the “add to samples” button.  When you’ve selected all the fabrics you want, click on the “sample” button at the top of the page and enter your details. We will send you a piece of the fabric/wood and you can see how it looks in your home. You can order up to 10 samples totally free of charge!

Sorry we can’t offer you a refund for a made-to-measure blind.  This is because all of our blinds are made to order, especially for you, to your exact specifications.  To prevent mistakes, you should follow our measuring guides, take care entering your details, and check everything is right on your confirmation email.  If there’s anything wrong with the details then make sure you contact us straight away so that we can help sort it out.
